KEEN, creator engine
Ten creators on boots, sneakers and trails
A first roster of ten creators filming KEEN on real ground: jobsite mud, rocky climbs, city streets. Two join each week until the roster is full.
- creators live by week six
- 10
- creator videos a month at the full roster
- 303

Highframe on a muddy lot, day one
A creator walks a dirt lot in the Highframe, says the hook to camera, then shows the steel safety toe up close.

Summary
| Roster | Ten creators, two added at a time | Creators live by week: 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10. The ramp is my proposal and runs six weeks. |
|---|---|---|
| Who | Real wearers, not gear reviewers | Jobsite crews, hikers, runners, parents. Matched to Highframe, Targhee, Wander and Jasper Zionic. |
| Production | 7 videos per creator per week | That is 303 creator videos a month at 10 creators, one variable per test. |
| Pay | Starter $300, Standard $500, Premium $800 | Monthly caps of $600, $1,000 and $1,500. These are my proposal for the first roster. |
| Bonus | $50 flat past 100,000 views | One bonus per creator per month, organic views only. Cap bonuses are $300, $500 and $700. |
| Compliance | Every draft checked against the claims sheet | Creators quote only lines from KEEN's own pages. Anything else is cut before posting. |
| Category rule | Say only what the boot says about itself | Waterproof, steel toe, cushioning: product wording only. No safety ratings, no injury promises. |
| Goal | $1 cost per 1,000 views | The simulator shows $5.74 on my guesses. It takes 4.2% viral videos or a 21,711-view median. |
| Report | One table every Monday | Views, cost per 1,000 views, best hook and claim flags for each creator. |
| Decision | Keep, cut or scale on cost per views | The monthly ceiling is $15,000 with all ten at the top cap, bonuses excluded. |

History
Former COO of Tabs. I built its creator program to 100M monthly social impressions, and the paid ad engine alongside it. The numbers below come from videos that program produced.
At Tabs the loop was the same: a creator roster feeding a paid engine, with weak videos cut early and strong ones scaled. KEEN is a different category, outdoor footwear, and I have not run it. I would learn the product from your team and from the first creators before I trust any hook.

Why now
2003
Family-owned and values-led since 2003
KEEN calls itself family-owned and values-led since 2003. Creators get a real origin to mention in their own words, not a script.
Published20 years
Targhee IV marks 20 years of trail
The homepage runs Targhee IV: 20 Years of Trail. A boot with that history suits the jobsite and trail formats.
Published$125+
A clear offer to send viewers to
Free standard shipping on every $125+ order, plus 30-day returns. Creators can point to that without touching a changing sale price.
Published30-day
A free trial built for fit videos
KEEN offers a free 30-day trial to find your perfect fit. That line anchors the try-on format and answers the fit question before it is asked.

Part 4 of 15
Principles
One variable per test
Same boot, same hook, one change: the opening shot. At 303 videos a month with ten creators there is room to change one thing at a time.
Losers killed early
A hook that stalls is dropped after the first week of data. The hook library keeps what works across Highframe, Jasper Zionic and Wander.
One number to protect
Cost per 1,000 views, target $1. Pay is capped so the number can be defended: $15,000 a month at most for all ten creators.
Claims stay on the sheet
Creators quote KEEN's own lines, like PFAS Free Since 2018 and free standard shipping on every $125+ order. Nothing on health or safety outcomes.

#briefs
Briefs, drafts, reviews and the weekly numbers
MartaMon 8:30 AM
This week's brief: Targhee IV on a jobsite. Hook is Our #1 hiking boot, made jobsite ready. Show the mud, the cuff, the cushioning. One variable only: the opening shot.
Report botAppMon 9:00 AM
Monday report is ready. Views and cost per 1,000 views by creator against the $1 target. Best hook so far: crag to town. Two drafts flagged for claims.
DevMon 10:05 AM
Can I say the Highframe is steel toe safe for any jobsite?
Say what the page says: built with KEEN.DRY waterproof, breathable technology and a steel safety toe. No promise beyond that.
MartaWed 2:15 PM
Draft sent back. The first three seconds show the box, not the boot. Open on the Jasper Zionic climbing the rock, then say the hook.
Reshot. The new opener is on the rock, uploading now.
PriyaThu 6:40 PM
The Wander desert clip just passed 100,000 views, all organic.
Bonus is flat $50, one per creator per month. Its hook goes into next week's brief.
Report botAppFri 11:00 AM
Check: two drafts quote a sale price. Prices change, so link to the product page instead. Both drafts are held until the line is removed.
The messages illustrate the working channel, with invented people: briefs go out on Monday, claims questions get an answer the same day, and nothing posts without the check.
Part 5 of 15
Formats

Brief 01
Jobsite mud test
“Our #1 hiking boot, made jobsite ready.”
Handheld on a dirt lot. Walk through mud, tilt down to the cuff and sole, end with the full boot in frame.

Brief 02
Crag to town
“As comfortable heading to the crag as it is cruising around town.”
Climb a rocky slope in the Jasper Zionic, then cut to the same pair on a city sidewalk. Same outfit in both shots.

Brief 03
Kids play test
“A fave for over 10 years”
A parent films kids on a playground structure, close on the sneakers and sandals, ending on the kid's reaction.

Brief 04
Trail run
“Any Terrain. Any Weather.”
Prop the Wander on a rock at golden hour, then run a trail loop. Cut on the first step and on the dusty shoe at the end.

Brief 05
Try-on unboxing
“Free 30-day trial. Find your perfect fit.”
Unbox on a city curb, try on the UNEEK TREKKER, walk ten steps, then read the trial line to camera.
Every product line in a video comes off the claims sheet word for word, for example “PFAS Free Since 2018”, “Free 30-day trial. Find your perfect fit.”, “Our #1 hiking boot, made jobsite ready.”. Product names are said as printed.
Part 6 of 15
Recruiting
Four sources in
Existing wearers
Hikers, work crews and parents already posting in their own pairs. I would message them from their public posts, with the product named in the first line.
KEEN Corps members
The KEEN Corps Rewards Program lets people shop, volunteer and earn coins. It is a customer program, so these members are fans to ask, not an affiliate roster.
Affiliate or ambassador page
I did not find an affiliate or ambassador page on the site pages I read. The first ten creators would come from outreach, not from an existing program.
Trail, jobsite and school groups
Local trail clubs, work crews and school parents. Each group maps to one line: Targhee, Highframe, or the kids' Jasper Zionic.
Five filters, fewer each step
1Wears the product
Owns or will buy a pair. The video must show real use, not a studio shelf.
2Shows real ground
Mud, rock, pavement or playground within the first three seconds.
3Reads the claims sheet
Passes a short check on approved lines before the first brief.
4Posts seven a week
Can film seven short videos each week without the hook going stale.
5Takes a one-variable edit
Accepts a draft sent back with a single change, such as a new opener.
Part 7 of 15
Who
Jobsite crew member
Framing, concrete or roofing days. Shows the boot in mud and dust, on camera for a full shift.
Likely product: Men's Highframe Waterproof Work Boot (Steel Toe)
Weekend hiker
Fall trail miles in wet weather. Talks about the waterproof build and the cushioning.
Likely product: Men's Targhee III Waterproof
Climber-commuter
Gym or crag in the morning, office after. Fits the climbing-inspired sneaker.
Likely product: Women's Jasper Sneaker
Trail runner
Runs dirt loops and shows the shoe in desert light and at sunrise.
Likely product: Men's Wander Trail Running Shoe
Parent of an active kid
Playground afternoons. The kids' sneaker is the star of the clip.
Likely product: Big Kids' Jasper Zionic Sneaker
Street-style walker
City sidewalks, outfit first. The shoe is the statement piece.
Likely product: All Gender UNEEK Mule WK
Left off, every time
Always left out: creators who promise injury relief or safety ratings, anyone who puts down another shoe brand, accounts that fake wear (no pair, no video), minors filming without a parent, and anyone who quotes a sale price that has since changed.

Claims sheet
Approved, word for word
Quoted exactly as the brand publishes it.
“Hours of warm, dry feet on the coldest days.”
Only in videos about the Women's Revel IV High Polar Waterproof Boot.
“Free standard shipping on every $125+ order, plus 30-day returns. We love easy.”
Closing line of any video that sends viewers to checkout.
“PFAS Free Since 2018”
Sustainability beats in any format, read as written.
“Family-Owned & Values-Led Since 2003”
Origin story moments, in the creator's own voice around it.
“Free 30-day trial. Find your perfect fit.”
Try-on unboxing and any fit question.
“Our #1 hiking boot, made jobsite ready.”
Jobsite mud test, in videos about the Targhee IV work boot.
“This waterproof work boot is built with KEEN.DRY waterproof, breathable technology and a steel safety toe.”
Highframe steel toe videos only.
Never said
Each one with the reason it stays out.
Never say the boots fix foot pain
A health outcome. The pages speak of comfort and cushioning only.
Never say it beats other boot brands
A comparison. KEEN makes none and creators hold no test data.
Never say the steel toe is certified for any site
A safety rating. The page names a safety toe, not a certification.
Never say every pair ships free
Free standard shipping has a threshold. Below it, shipping is charged.
Never say the discount is permanent
Sale prices change. Link to the product page instead of promising a price.
Never say the winter boot works at any temperature
A temperature promise beyond the stated rating on the product page.
Never say the shoes are made only from recycled materials
A materials claim. The site mentions recycled materials, not whole pairs.
To confirm with the brand
Held until someone on the brand side signs off.
Get $10 off your first purchase
The offer text was cut off in the crawl. Confirm terms and whether it is live before any creator mentions it.
Insulation rated to -40°F
Confirm which boots carry the rating before any creator names a temperature.

Pay
Starter
$300–600
a month, by band
Starter: creators in their first weeks, filming one product line such as the Highframe or Jasper.
Bonus at the cap: $300
Standard
$500–1,000
a month, by band
Standard: creators who use the hook library and post seven videos every week, on two lines.
Bonus at the cap: $500
Premium
$800–1,500
a month, by band
Premium: creators whose clips already travel, working across Targhee, Wander and the kids' line.
Bonus at the cap: $700
Under 100,000 views
$0
The base pay covers the work.
+$50 flat
Whatever the band.
Top-up to your cap
Bonus = band cap − base pay.
- One bonus per creator per month, however many videos pass 100,000 views.
- The bonus is per video: one clip past 100,000 views earns $50 flat.
- Only organic views count toward the bonus. Paid boosts do not.
- No bonus on a video that broke the claims sheet or the footwear rules, even past 100,000 views.
Starter: $600 cap − $300 fee = $300 bonus; Standard: $1,000 cap − $500 fee = $500 bonus; Premium: $1,500 cap − $800 fee = $700 bonus.
The bonus pays for reach after the work is done, never instead of it. One bonus per creator per calendar month keeps it an incentive and keeps the program cost predictable.
Part 11 of 15
Simulator
On my guesses the program costs $10,050 for 1.8M views: $5.74 per 1,000 views against a $1 target. It needs 4.2% of videos to go viral, or a median video at 21,711 views.

- Videos / month
- 303
- Est. views / month
- 1.8M
- Cost per 1,000 views
- $5.74
Above the $1 target at these inputs.
To hit $1, the roster needs about 10.1M views a month. That means about 4.2% of videos going viral, or a median near 22K views per video. That is why the day-90 gate exists: keep the accounts that clear it, replace the rest.
Proposed, not measured. Views = videos × median, breakouts at 10× the median, viral at 750K. Bonus: +$50 for a viral video, one per creator per month.
Part 11 of 15, continued
What moves the result
| If the median is | Views / month | Monthly cost | Cost / 1K | Hits target |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 750 | 1.4M | $10,050 | $6.96 | No |
| 1,500 | 1.8M | $10,050 | $5.74 | No |
| 3,000 | 2.4M | $10,050 | $4.24 | No |
| If the viral share is | Views / month | Monthly cost | Cost / 1K | Hits target |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0.3% | 1.2M | $10,000 | $8.44 | No |
| 0.5% | 1.8M | $10,050 | $5.74 | No |
| 1% | 2.9M | $10,150 | $3.52 | No |
The math. Videos a month = 10 creators × 7 a week × 52 ÷ 12 = 303. Views per video = (1 − 4% − 0.5%) × 1,500 + 4% × 10 × 1,500 + 0.5% × 750,000 = 5,782.5; 303 videos × 5,782.5 = 1.8M views a month. Cost = 10 × $1,000 = $10,000 base + 1 bonus × $50 = $10,050. Cost per 1,000 views = $10,050 ÷ 1.8M × 1,000 = $5.74 against a $1.00 target. To hit the target, either 4.2% of videos go viral or the median video reaches 21,711 views, other inputs held.
Move the sliders and the label recalculates. The result is only as good as the guesses behind it, so the median views, the share of breakouts and the share of viral videos are marked as Assumptions until the first month of posts replaces them.

Warm-up
Sheet and briefs
KEEN approves the claims sheet, the hook library is seeded, channels open. No creators are live at week 0.
Month 1
Ramp to ten
Two creators join at a time until ten are live over six weeks. Seven videos per creator per week, one variable per test, losers killed early.
Month 2
Cut and scale
Creators are ranked on cost per 1,000 views against the $1 target. Winners move up a band and the weakest are replaced.
Month 3
Feed the paid side
Top organic clips move to paid with the creator's written permission. The hook library shapes every new brief.
Day 90
Decision
Read cost per 1,000 views against the $1 target, then scale the roster, change the formats or stop.
Monthly ceiling
$15,000 at most
Ten creators at the top cap cost at most $15,000 a month, bonuses excluded. The simulator base case is $10,050.
$15,000 Monthly ceiling, all 10 creators at the top cap, bonuses excluded Proposed
The roster grows by two creators a week, so hook performance can be read week over week instead of by anecdote.

Organic to paid
From organic to paid
Post organic
The creator posts the clip on their own account with the hook from the brief.
Read the first week
Cost per 1,000 views and watch time decide which clips qualify for paid.
Ask permission
KEEN and the creator agree in writing on paid use of the clip before any spend.
Back the winners
Winning clips go to paid with one variable changed at a time. Losers are killed early.
From the video to the checkout
- Link to the product page for the boot shown, never a quoted sale price.
- Send viewers to checkout with free standard shipping on every $125+ order in the closing line.
- Mention the free 30-day trial and 30-day returns when the video is about fit.
- Point to the Find a store link for people who want to try on a pair.
- Hold the first-purchase credit until KEEN confirms the offer terms.
Part 15 of 15
Category rules
Rules for outdoor footwear
Boots and sneakers invite safety and health promises. Creators stay on KEEN's own wording, and the claims sheet decides what is in.
Safety wording
The Highframe page describes a steel safety toe. Quote that. Never state a standard, a rating or an injury outcome.
Waterproof wording
Say waterproof only for styles whose page says so, such as KEEN.DRY waterproof, breathable technology. No promise of dry feet in every condition.
Warmth
Name a temperature only for the style that carries it: the Revel IV High Polar is rated to -40°F on its page. No temperature promises elsewhere.
Comfort and health
Comfort and cushioning, yes, in KEEN's words. Foot pain, posture or recovery claims are health outcomes and stay out.
Prices and offers
Free standard shipping applies on every $125+ order. Sale prices change, so link to the page and wait for KEEN to confirm the first purchase offer.
Materials and sustainability
Quote PFAS Free Since 2018 and Consciously Created only as written. Never say a pair is fully recycled or carbon neutral.
The brand’s legal team sets the final rules. This is the operating floor I’d start from, not legal advice.
